This Patient is 42 years old, male, from Qinghai Province. In December, 2009,
patient felt generalized weakness, waist pain and waist sourness, so he went to
local hospital for check and treatment. After body check and tests, he was
diagnosed as Polycystic Kidney Disease without gross hematuria and his blood
pressure is 180/140mmhg. Based on this, the hospital offered cyst decortication
on unilateral kidney and oral Chinese medicine was also taken after patient left
hospital. After this, symptom of waist pain was relieved. However, in October of
the next year, the above symptoms appear again and at that moment oral Chinese
medicine can not play action at all. Two months later, patient went to hospital
for another time due to the repeated symptoms. Through tests, protein urine
shows two + and urea nitrogen is 12.39mmol/L, creatinine 192.3umol/L, uric acid
468umol/L. Through Type-B Ultrasonic examination, the size of right kidney was
20*14cm and left kidney was 14*7cm accompanied by multi-stones in bilateral
kidney. But hospital did not offer any treatment for this.
For this reason, patient turned to our hospital on 5th Jan, 2011. When
patient went to our hospital, he had a really bad mental condition and pale
face. As he said, he felt swelling in abdomen and lack of appetite, and the
tired feeling is much more serious after physical activity. After tests, urea
nitrogen was 15.71mmol/ L and creatinine, 191umol/ L; uric acid, 496umol/ L;
serumβ2 microglobulin, 7.27mg/ L; fibrinogen, 6.36g/L. Through Type-B Ultrasonic
examination, right kidney was 178*99mm and left kidney was 194*96mm. Besides,
many noechoarea with different size can be found. GFR of bilateral kidney is
less than 10ml/min and no blood flow can be found between kidney and cysts.
According to patient condition, Micro-Chinese Medicine was offered as the
main treatment method, accompanied by other methods of adjusting acidosis,
activating blood circulation and antioxidant. After six-month treatment of
Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy, tests results on 6th July, 2011, showed that
urea nitrogen is 6.21mmol/ L and creatinine 62.4umol/ L, uric acid 280.2umol/ L
as well as carbon dioxide combining power 25mmol/ L. His kidney function has got
an great improvement to normal level.

Traditionally, it is considered that no treatment or medicine can treat ADPKD
and doctors only offer treatment or medicine aiming to dealing with complication
in order to delay this disease progressing into end stage. Once this disease
progresses into end stage, patients can only choose kidney replacing treatment
which refers to dialysis or transplant. Since Micro-Chinese Medicine is applied
in treating ADPKD, patients’ living quality has increased greatly, which is
expressed by reduced kidney size, improved kidney function, increased GFR and
decreased blood pressure. Many patients begin to take less or even no
hypotensor. With the clinical application of antioxidant and medicine that can
prevent cyst wall epithelial cells proliferating, combined treatment of both
Chinese medicine and western medicine will become the best choice for patients
who are suffering Polycystic Kidney Disease. Since then, no treatment or
medicine for ADPKD becomes to a history.
