PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease) Patients on Christmas Day

Christmas is on its way, and many people are looking over the upcoming calendar, making plans of Christmas. However, for patients with PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease), they must take special care of themselves at such an important time of year.

Keep your ticker ticking It's easy to knock back several glasses of wine when you're sitting around the holiday table for long stretches of time, especially if you tell yourself that some wine is good for your health. Here I do not recommend PKD patients to drink too much wine.

Facing countless gourmet meals, you have to resist the temptation. Heavy meals, too much salt and excess alcohol can all exacerbate Polycystic Kidney Disease especially for those who have presented kidney failure.

On Christmas day, you might choose to go out with your friends taking parties or play games. Here I remind those PKD patients, do not have strenuous physical activities. The cysts in the kidneys are very likely to bust. Even without provocation, the cysts will bust. If the cysts bust, you are very likely to get infected, which will ruin your holiday.

The holiday can be stressful for anyone, but for those PKD patients, it can even more stressful. Eating well, staying hydrated, exercising, seeking emotional support from family, friends or colleagues, and making the best of your circumstances are a few days to mitigate the difficulties.

There is no way to change the fact that PKD patients can not enjoy a lot of gourmet meals. However, you will feel loved and appreciated like never before because it is this holiday that bring all your family together.

Additionally, PKD patients should not forget to take medicines even you are taking part in activities. You need to try and stay healthy through the holidays.
