Polycystic Kidney Disease: Symptoms and Treatment

Symptoms

1. Abdominal pain
Abdominal pain is a very common symptom of Polycystic Kidney Disease. About 60% of patients with Polycystic Kidney Disease are suffering from it. The continuous growth of the cysts will enlarge the kidneys, pulling the renal capsules. Thus, the abdominal pain presents.
2. Hematuria ( Blood in the urine)

The enlarging cysts will press the small vessels and when the vessels are ruptured, hematuria will occur. Hematuria is always accompanied with white blood cells and small amount of proteinuria.
3. Excessive urine at night
The press on the kidneys can cause damage of the tubules, losing its normal function of urine concentration and reabsorption of water. So, the normal procedure of urination function will be prolonged. Thus, the urine is discharged at night which should be in the day.
