Hypertension is a common early finding in PKD, occurring in 50 to 70 percent
of cases before any significant reduction in glomerular filtration rate.
Usually, people will suffer from elevated blood pressure 5~10 years after PKD
diagnosis. As the two medial problems linked together, the treatment should
alleviate both of them simultaneously.
Polycystic Kidney Disease
In patients with PKD, numerous cysts are filling in the kidneys. With the
constant enlargement of cysts, nearby kidney tissues will be oppressed and over
time, cyst expansion leads to focal areas of renal ischemia, resulting in renal
failure.
Hypertension
It is claimed that elevated blood pressure is caused by the cyst expansion.
When cysts cause renal ischemia, cysts will secrete a hormone, named renin. This
is blamed for high blood pressure (PKD Combined with High Blood Pressure and
Renal Anemia).
Renin-containing cells are present in the attenuated arteries in the walls of
the cysts and in cells in the connective tissue surrounding cysts. Renin can
also be produced by the epithelial cells lining the cysts and active renin is
often present within the cyst fluid. Renin may directly promote epithelial cell
hyperplasia and cyst growth, since angiotensin II is a growth factor.
Treatment
If hypertension can not be controlled well, it can promote the progression of
the disease and speed up the further kidney damages.
Hypertension is regarded as “watershed” for PKD. In most cases, the early
high blood pressure indicates no significant kidney damages, however, once it is
not controlled well, kidney damages begin to worse and spread very quickly. So
if you are in the early stage of hypertension, it is a good time for you to
reverse your kidney functions.
Anti-hypertensive medications and Chinese herbs (Canada Lady Heads to China
For Chinese Herbal Medicine of PKD) for shrinking renal cysts can help alleviate
high blood pressure and cysts from the root.
If you are developing or have already stepped into renal failure stage, there
is also solution for you. Immunotherapy can differentiate into new health renal
cells to improve your kidney functions. However, whether you can reverse your
impaired kidney or not depends on your detailed condition.
You can leave your medical condition below, we will help analyze whether
Immunotherapy work on you or not.
