Patients with Polycystic Kidney Disease will certainly present high blood
pressure, but the time and severity can be various. Many patients are wondering
why they will present high blood pressure as what they get is kidney disease.
Then, why patients with Polycystic Kidney Disease develop high blood pressure?
I will first introduce what kind of kidney diseases will lead to kidney high
blood pressure.
1. Disease of urinary tract obstruction: lithangiuria, kidney and urinary
tract tumor. What is more, inflammation, abscess, tumour, trauma, bleeding will
also elevate high blood pressure. It is estimated that 19.6%-57.7% kidney
diseases are accompanied with high blood pressure.
2. Renal vascular changes: renal arteries or branch stenosis caused by
various reasons such as atherosclerosis, specific arteritis, etc can lead to
anemia of renal arteries, the formation of thrombus, leading to renal high blood
pressure.
3. Pathological changes of renal parenchyma: the most common are acute or
chronic glomerulonephritis and congenital kidney diseases (Polycysitc Kidney
Disease, horseshoe kidney, renal aplasia), kidney stone, kidney tumor and
secondary kidney diseases (Diabetic Kidney Disease, trauma, radiation nephritis,
connective tissue disease).
When the kidney cysts cause pressure on the normal kidney tissues, the kidney
ischemia, anemia and hypoperfusion will occur. On the other hand, too much
pressure on the kidneys will cause too much secretion of renin, which will cause
renal high blood pressure. If the elevation of blood pressure continues, heart
enlargement and heart failure will present. Some patients even develop Chronic
Renal Failure and Uremia once the high blood pressure is not under control.
So, patients with Polycystic Kidney Disease should catch the best time to
treat high blood pressure caused by Polycystic Kidney Disease. If you want to
