Alcohol is an important thing in men’s world. Once they develop the habit of
drinking alcohol, it is very difficulty for them to quit it. Therefore, many
patients with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) often ask the question whether
they are allowed to drink alcohol. Certainly, the answer is “no”. Drinking wine
can bring much harm to them and do not benefit their recovery.
Alcohol, especially Chinese spirits can irritate the kidney seriously. It can
activate polycystin activity directly thus increasing the secretion of cyst
liquid. As a result, renal cysts will grow very rapidly thus making the disease
more serious. Therefore, patients with PKD should quit drinking alcohol in their
daily life so as to get a better recovery.
What’s more, a better recovery of patients with Renal Cyst depends on a
favorable internal environment. If patients drink much alcohol, it will cause
lots of other diseases such as, anemia, platelet function disorder and so on.
Moreover, alcohol can irritate their intestines and stomach thus causing
indigestion. Therefore, the patients’ body can not fully make use of vitamin B1
and B2. As a result, the patients can not get enough vitamins to meet their
body’s need. What’s more, alcohol can lead to hypertension, which is an
important factor in exacerbating the disease. In a world, the above harms
brought by alcohol can do much harm to patients’ internal environment thus doing
bad to patients’ recovery.
In addition, alcohol can affect the nitrogen balance of the body. Urea
nitrogen is the end metabolin of protein. Alcohol can speed up the decomposing
of protein thus causing more urine nitrogen. Therefore, the urea nitrogen
concentration will increase thus causing damage to their renal function.
Therefore, for their health, all patients with PKD should quit drinking
alcohol totally so as to get a better recovery.
