Polycystic Kidney Disease is a kind of Renal Cysts. There are no noticeable
symptoms when Polycystic Kidney Disease is in its early stage, so most of the
patients will ignore the early symptoms. But if the obvious symptoms show up, it
means that the patients’ disease is very serious. And they have already missed
the best therapeutic time of their disease, and the damage of their kidneys has
been very serious. So in the following content, we will list the early symptoms
of Polycystic Kidney Disease, so that everyone can have an early treatment.
There are six main symptoms of Polycystic Kidney Disease:
1. abnormal urine
Proteinuria and blood urine are the main symptoms of patients with Polycystic
Kidney Disease, and they the earliest symptoms that patients may have. The most
common symptom is proteinuria, and it has some relationship with barrier
function of glomerulus. Blood in urine is the main reason that make patients
with Polycystic Kidney Disease go to have a test.
The reason of blood urine is because of enlargement of the cysts, the cysts
on the kidneys will oppress each other, thus leading to rupture of cysts or
bleeding of cysts. Generally, it will be interval painless gross blood in urine.
The blood in urine of the patients is mild, and it is persistent. In the early
stage, patients with Polycystic Kidney Disease will have slight frequency of
urination and urgent urination, nocturnal enuresis and diuresis and other
symptoms. Under general condition, all these symptoms in the early stage have
some relationship with declining of concentrating function of kidneys.
2. Masses in stomach
When the kidneys enlarge to some extent, various sizes of masses can be felt
in unilateral and bilateral epigastrium, and the masses can move with breathe.
If having concurrent infection, patients can feel pain when pressing. About
50%-80% patients with Polycystic Kidney Disease can feel masses in bilateral
epigastrium, and about 15%-30% patients with Polycystic Kidney Disease can feel
the masses in unilateral epigastrium.
3. Anemia
Most of the patients with Polycystic Kidney Disease can experience a course
anemia process from mild to serious. And mostly nocturnal enuresis will
accompany with anemia. And this symptom has some relationship with decreasing by
degrees of erythrogenin which is secreted by kidneys, and it also related to the
declining of renal function.
4. High blood pressure
High blood pressure is one of the most common symptoms among patients with
Polycystic Kidney Disease, and about 50%-60% patients with Polycystic Kidney
Disease have high blood pressure. Generally, patients will have high blood
pressure before the declining of renal function. Most of the patients will have
headache, dizziness, and it has close relations with hyperfunction of
rennin-angiotensin.
5. Dull pain and discomfort in waist and abdomen
Generally, patients will have these symptoms when their disease is in the
early stage. And the pain is mainly constriction in the small of the back, and
sometimes it may be severe pain. The pain can be interval or persistence. The
pain can be aggravated by running, sitting for a long time, activity.
6. Symptoms of urinary systems
Such as anuria, frequent micturition, urgent urination, pain when pee, blood
urine, more urine at night, oliguria and so on.
From the above, we can see that there are so many symptoms of Polycystic
Kidney Disease. Patients with Polycystic Kidney Disease must pay attention to
these symptoms. If you find any suspicious symptoms, you must go to see a doctor
