More and more toxins and metabolic wastes are building up in the blood
because of the decline of kidney function. At this time, most patients would
have to choose dialysis, which is known as an artificial kidney, to discharge
the wastes out of body. However, Dialysis can lead to a lot of complications
like hypotension, high blood pressure, imbalances syndrome, muscle spasm and
heart failure etc, which special attention should be paid for. The following
tips may help you cope with these complications.
1. Hypotension
The most common complication of dialysis is hypotension, which is caused by
the decrease of blood volume caused by the fast-speed dehydration.
So, these patients should lie on the back and keep feet higher than head in
order to slow down the blood flow. The severe ones should have hypertonic
saline, albumin injection, and hypertonic glucose.
2. High blood pressure
High blood pressure occurs in the middle or late period of dialysis mostly.
High blood pressure caused by dialysis does not pose obvious symptoms
generally.
Tips: Patients can be injected with sodium nitroprusside to bring down their
pressure with the doctors’ guidance. If it does not work, patients should stop
dialysis immediately.
3. Imbalance syndrome
Because some small molecules like urea nitrogen in the blood are cleared in a
short time, the plasma osmotic pressure declines sharply. The water in the blood
will go into other tissues and cells, causing cerebral edema and other
symptoms.
Tips: Patients with light imbalance syndrome do not need to be treated. The
serious ones can have intravenous injection of 50% glucose solution or 10ml 3%
sodium chloride under your doctors’ guidance.
4. Muscle spasm
Muscle spasm is mainly caused by hypotension, fast ultrafiltration or low
sodium dialysis.
Tips: Besides coping with hypotension, the filtration should be set proper.
What is more, the dialysis fluid should adjust sodium up to 145mmol/L.
5. Heart failure
Tips: When this phenomenon occurs, patients can lie on bed or choose a
comfortable way to keep arms fall naturally.
Although dialysis can lead to so many complications, some patients still have
to receive it. In order to reduce the frequency of dialysis or even get rid of
it, patients should receive proper treatment to cope with the root of kidney
disease. Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy and Immunotherapy in Shijiazhuang
kidney disease hospital, China can effectively repair kidney cells. Once the
kidney filtration units are restored to work, dialysis can be eliminated.
