As for PKD patients, cysts with various sizes spread over the whole renal
cortex and renal medulla. Cysts space is much larger than renal parenchyma.
Kidneys enlarge obviously with grapelike outline. There are light yellow liquid
on cut surface of kidney. With cysts growing and increasing, they will compress
healthy renal tissue, causing renal ischemia and anoxia as well as low renal
perfusion. Then PKD patients may get Hypertension.
Hypertension caused by PKD is different from Primary Hypertension which can
be controlled by dilating blood vessel or preventing blood vessel shrinking.
Hypotensor has some certain effect on controlling Hypertension caused by early
stage PKD. However, during the process of taking hypotensor, the dosage will be
increased gradually, and finally blood pressure will be difficult to be
controlled.
If Nephrotic Hypertension happening to PKD patients can not be controlled
effectively, kidney injury and renal fibrosis can aggravate and serum creatinine
increases. Meanwhile, aggravated illness condition can increase blood pressure
continuously, which can lead to heart enlargement and Heart Failure. Some
patients may have rapidly developing illness condition. With renal functional
injury, Chronic Renal Insufficiency, or even Uremia occurs finally.
Once PKD patients get Hypertension, they should accept active treatment in
time instead of self-medication. Due to individual illness condition, patients’
condition can aggravate seriously, or even death can be caused, if patients take
nephrotoxic medicine unconsciously. So patients should take medicine under
doctor’s advice in order to control blood pressure and repair injured kidney
scientifically.
The key of treating Hypertension caused by PKD is to treat the disease of PKD
in order to reduce cystic pressure on kidney and decrease cyst internal
pressure, which can remove the pressure on surrounding nephron caused by cysts
and relieve the condition of renal ischemia and anoxia, delaying the process of
Renal Fibrosis.
