Generally very few obvious symptoms can be found in early stage of Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). Besides this reason, due to poor knowledge about PKD, this
disease is usually neglected by most patients. Therefore, when this disease is
found, it usually develops into more serious degree.
In the early stage of PKD, the number and size of cysts are still tiny and
they may not affect patients’ normal life in this period. But with time passing,
cysts will grow and increase continuously, and these cysts begin to compress
surrounding renal tissue, causing renal ischemia and anoxia. This can start the
process of Renal Fibrosis which is the root cause of kidney injury and renal
function decline. Once the process of Renal Fibrosis starts, it means that
kidney is injured and renal function is impaired.
If this disease can not be controlled in time, Renal Fibrosis keeps
developing further. If there are less than 50% kidneys are fibrous, kidney can
still operate well enough to maintain patients’ normal life. Once Renal Fibrosis
involves more than 80% kidneys, it usually means that PKD has developed into
Renal Failure. In this period, toxins and metabolic wastes begin to accumulate
in body but kidneys can not excrete them out of human body as before. When more
than 90% kidneys are fibrous, it means that this disease has already developed
into End Stage Renal Failure which also refers to Uremia Stage. During this
stage, patients have to accept replacing treatment, Dialysis, to maintain their
life. Dialysis is only a replacement of kidney, but it can not repair kidney.
Besides, the more Dialysis patients accept, the worse their kidney condition is.
And finally, PKD patients have to wait for Kidney Transplant.
From the above, it can be found that the key of preventing PKD developing
into Renal Failure or Uremia is to block Renal Fibrosis. As long as Renal
Fibrosis can be blocked in time, Renal Failure or Uremia can be prevented
effectively.
Based on the theory mentioned above, our hospital has developed a new
treatment called combination of Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy and
Immunotherapy.
Besides blocking Renal Fibrosis, Micro-Chinese Medicine
Osmotherapy can repair injured kidney and protect remained renal function
effectively while Immunotherapy is adopted to create new cells that kidney
needs. By this way, PKD can be controlled radically with very few recurrences.
Even for patients who are suffering Renal Failure or accepting Dialysis, this
treatment can relieve their illness condition and reduce Dialysis frequency. For
patients with light illness condition, this treatment may also help them get rid
of Dialysis.
