Cyst Decortication is a treatment of treating PKD in recent ten years.
Compared with other surgical operations, Cyst Decortication has smaller trauma
and faster recovery as well as other advantages. It has been a common treatment
of treating PKD.
In the process of Cyst Decortication, general anesthesia is required. All the
process of this operation is operated through back abdominal cavity. Three
routine tests are required before operation, including time of bleeding and
cruor, liver and renal function tests, cardiogram, sternum, Type-B Ultrasonic
examination, IVP examination, as well as CT examination. No food intake is
allowed in 12 hours before operation and water intake is also not allowed in 6
hours before operation. Patients need a high-quality sleep before operation. As
for nervous patients, proper sedative or sleeping pills can be taken if
necessary.
Though Cyst Decortication is easy to operate, it can cause some complications
such as bleeding hypercarbia, peritoneum injury, intestinal tube injury,
perirenal hematoma and bleeding at punter hole. Observation to aerodermectasia,
pneumothorax and prevention to post operation infection are necessary.
As for patients suffering from large number of cysts or cysts in deep kidney,
Cyst Decortication can play limited role in dealing with these cysts. Besides,
if such patients accept Cyst Decortication, easy infection and recurrence can
happen. Even frequent observation can not delay renal function aggravation.
What’s more, using operation to remove cysts is also not easy. Though cysts on
kidney surface can be removed, it is rather difficult to remove cysts in deep
kidney.
Conventional treatment is an effective method in early stage of PKD. Though
it may not cure Polycystic Kidney Disease completely and it needs a long term,
it can control cyst growth radically, which can reduce kidney damage and avoid
or delay the process of Renal Insufficiency, or even Uremia.
