Could PKD Patients Drink Milk After Operation

Qualified protein occupies nearly 80% of the total protein in milk. Milk not only contains various and large amount of essential amino-acid of human body, but its protein structure is very approaching to human body, so nutrient component in milk can be absorbed and utilized more readily. In addition to protein, other components in milk are also beneficial to PKD patients. Hence, it is available for PKD patients to drink milk after operation.

Nephrotic patients take small large of protein so they are not limited to take more calories. The content of fat in milk reaches 2%—3.2% and it has a great amount of calories and is easy to be absorbed, so milk is very suitable for nephritic patients to drink. Long-term drinking milk can make skin smooth, and it can moderate dry skin and withered and yellow hair caused by disease. Carbohydrate in milk is lactose which can adjust gastric acid, promote the peristalsis of intestine and stomach, facilitate secretion of digestive gland and boost calcium absorption.

The content of lactose in milk is not very high, nearly 10g. Therefore, even patients with Diabetic Nephropathy can drink a bag of milk without extra sugar which cannot arouse glucose fluctuation. Whereas, patients of End Stage Chronic Renal Failure usually have Edema and Oliguria so they must limit water intake. Milk contains much water and is considered as a kind of water, so patients in this stage need to restrict milk intake.
