what are the effects of dialysis to renal failure patients. In stage, patients
have to undergo dialysis due to many kinds of symptoms. Most patients will feel
normal after undergoing regular dialysis for some time. However, there are also
many side effects patients may suffer.
1. Dialysis imbalance syndrome. The incidence is 3.4% ~ 20%. Side effects of
hemodialysis are mainly nausea, vomiting and dysphoria etc. In serious cases
there can also be hyperspasmia, coma and even death. Patients with light
symptoms need no treatment. Patients in serious condition should be transfused
high permeability solution such as mannitol, 50% glucose or 3% sodium chloride
10ml. Albumin transfusion is also proper and other symptomatic treatment and
sedative can be used if necessary. In even more serious condition, dialysis
should be stopped.
2. Dialysis use syndrome. It is mainly caused by the use of new dialyser and
tubes.
3. Hypotension. It is one of the most common side effects of hemodialysis,
and the incidence is 20%~40%. There are many causes of low blood pressure and it
often happens in the middle or later part of the dialysis. Hypotension in later
part of the dialysis is mainly caused by fast ultrafiltration or maladjustment
to acetate dislysate.
4. Heat-trapping reaction. Generally no medication is needed. If the patient
has high fever, the dialysis temperature should be lowered and medications such
as antihistamine, hormone and antipyretic can be selectively used.
5. Heart failure. It is one of the most dangerous and serious side effects of
hemodialysis. Apart from symptomatic treatment, Sequence dialysis and filtration
should be enhanced.
6. Arrhythmia. The incidence is about 50% with ventricular premature beats as
the most common symptom. The causes of the side effects of dialysis can be
coronary heart disease, heart failure, pericarditis, severe anemia, electrolyte
and acid-base disorder, hyoxemia, low blood pressure and medicine etc.
7. Muscle spasm during dialysis. It is one common side effect of hemodialysis
with the incidence 10%~15%. It often happens to row intestinal muscle, feet,
upper limbs and abdominal muscle. The cause of it is not clear and may be
related to the lack of oxygen, low sodium and circulating blood volume.
8. Air embolism. Shut down the blood pump at once and nip intravenous line.
Let the patient lie down on left side with head low and feet high. In serious
condition, heart biopsy may be needed to pump out the air in the ventricle.
According to the side effects of hemodialysis, Shijiazhuang Kidney Disease
Hospital use Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy to treat Renal Failure combining
with hemodialysis. There are mainly three advantages. One is ensuring the effect
of sufficient dialysis and conslidating the effect. The second is regulating
integral organism and improving the physical condition of the patients. The
third one is to block the progressing of glomerular damage and improve the high
coagulative state in the kidneys so as to activate the remaining healthy kidney
cells to the largest extent and recover its compensatory function.
