Will PKD affect the eyesight? Though there are some PKD patients lose their
sights, these cases are not very common and all PKD patients won't lose their
sights. As we all know, PKD is a type of genetic disease. If it can't be
controlled well, it will develop to uremia, and only a part of patients go
blind. Besides, this symptom only occurs during the period of Uremia. So
patients don't have to worry it. Just PKD is found and treated early and in
time, this disease won't affect the eyesight of patients.
The main causes for that PKD can affect eyesight are: the accumulated uremia
toxin in human body can impair optic nerves, and hypertension can cause the
ocular fundus arteriosclerosis and the decrease of retinal blood. Then how can
we prevent the influence of PKD on eysight?
First, PKD patients must correct the impairment on optic nerves, and prevent
from the aggravation of this disease and losing sight: at the beginning of
treatment, they should control the haemorrhage effectively, replenish the blood
flow volume, control blood pressure and take timely and regular dialyses. These
measures contribute to the correction of optic nerves impairment of Uremia
patients.
Second, as for PKD found in early or middle stage, patients should adopt
proper treatments according to their symptoms: the continuous enlargement of
cysts will cause the progressive enlargement of kidneys, the decrease of renal
excretory function and further cause the accumulation of toxin in the patients'
body, which will lead to the increase of Scr, the retention of metabolin, the
unbalance of water and electrolyte. All of these will impair human body
seriously.
At last, experts remind that uremia patients caused by PKD had better adopt
traditional Chinese medicine for treatment. The enlargement of cysts can be
controlled by expanding blood vessels surrounding the cysts, accelerating the
blood circulation of cyst wall and restraining the distribution of cyst wall
epithelial cells.
