Q: I am 54 years old. I Was diagnosed with PKD with renal cysts from 1.55cm
to 4.3cm. The right kidney is 14.4X9.6cm and the left kidney is 13.4X9.1cm. My
doctor suggestdialysis. Do I need the dialysis now?
A: I analyzed your Test Report. I don’t think your illness condition is that
serious as your doctor said. You told me your doctor suggest dialysis. That’s
too early. You don’t need any dialysis now.
Renal Failure usually happen in 50s for patients with Polycystic Kidney
Disease. You are 54, but your creatinine is still 381. You are likely in stage 4
and is near to end stage renal failure.
If your cysts can be shrunk and the creatinine level well controlled, you
will not need dialysis. There is still hope your disease can be reversed.
Dialysis and kidney transplant is the last choice for patients with Renal
Failure. You are in stage 4 now, we hope we can stop the progressing of the
disease and make you live long healthy life like normal people. We should do as
much as we can to postpone the day of dialysis and kidney transplant.
The proper treatment for kidney cysts is as follows: On one hand, we have to
use western medicine to control the symptoms (PKD Symptoms). For example, your
urine protein, blood pressure and blood sugar should all be well controlled by
medications. For treating kidney cysts, we should also use Chinese medicine,
which can treat the disease fundamentally. Chinese medicine will restrain the
growth trend of the cysts, that is inactivating the epithelial cells of the cyst
walls and making it lose the function of secreting. Once the cyst liquid will
not be secreted, the cysts will not enlarge.
For the existing cysts, we cannot let them stay here, so we will use medicine
to increase the permeability of the cyst walls and the microcirculation. The
cyst liquid will be reabsorbed and discharged out through the urine. If the size
of the cysts are reduced, the pressure on the around renal tissues will be
lower, and the renal function will be better.
Besides, here is some tips for you to make your kidney condition better. Do
proper exercise. Walking at least for 30 minutes a day. Eat more fresh
vegetables and fruits.
