Dose high creatinine level meant dialysis? High creatinine level is usually
related to kidney damages. Dialysis can keep patient’s life continue in the end
stage of kidney disease. However, high creatinine level≠dialysis.
What does high creatinine level mean?
Creatinine is the metabolic wastes of muscle which should be filtered out by
kidneys. High creatinine level can result from many triggers, such as intake of
high protein food, strenuous sports and increase of muscle mass etc. However, if
elevated creatinine keeps high level persistently, usually it indicates kidney
dysfunction.
Not all kidney dysfunctions mean dialysis. Dialysis is recommended when
kidneys rarely functions or patients suffer from extremely serious symptoms.
Once creatinine elevates, it is an indicator that about 50% kidney functions
have already gone. Usually, when creatinine level reaches 5~6, doctor will
suggest patient to prepare for dialysis.
What should I do, if my creatinine level is high?
High creatinine level doesn’t mean you should be on dialysis. Whether
dialysis is necessary or not, it depends on your individual condition and your
remaining kidney functions. If you find you are with high creatinine level, you
should talk with your doctor firstly. Your doctor will help you to notice
whether your high creatinine levels relates to your kidneys or not.
Even you are diagnosed with kidney disorder, you should test your kidney
functions and these tests usually contain GFR. Compared with creatinine level,
GFR is an exact test to tell your kidney condition. Normally, when your GFR fall
downs within 15 (this means end stage of kidney disease), you are the candidate
of dialysis.
If your GFR is higher than 15, you are suggested to choose other alternatives
to avoid dialysis. Dialysis is not necessary in this condition. Mainly there are
two major treatments that help avoid dialysis by improve kidney functions.
● Chinese herbal medicine. Chinese herbal medicine was established, since
2500 years ago in ancient China. Chinese herbal medicine is famous for dilating
blood vessels and dissolving stasis, which can help dredge renal blood vessels
and improve renal Ishemia and Anemia. With more blood and oxygen, the damaged
renal tissues will revive again to develop its functions.
● Immunotherapy. Immunotherapy is a kind of primary cell which can replace
the kidney dead cells and tissues to improve kidney functions.
As long as kidney functions are higher than 15%, patients will avoid
dialysis. When kidney functions improve, kidneys will filter out the creatinine
spontaneously.
