Polycystic Kidney Disease is considered as uncured kidney disease and the
current treatment of Polycystic Kidney Disease in India is surgery, dialysis and
kidney transplant.
● Surgery. Similar with many countries, surgery is the first choice for PKD
patients when they feel discomforts caused by renal cysts. Doctors will use a
thin and long needle to insert your skin and drain the cyst fluids out. However,
many patients will experience the relapse of enlarged renal cysts after surgery.
When the larger cysts are drained small, the other cysts will get more space to
enlarge faster. Problem is that we can not take endless surgery for it will lead
to kidney dysfunction due to repeated surgical trauma.
● Dialysis. When Polycystic Kidney Disease develops into renal failure,
dialysis is used to filter the toxins out from the blood. Even the dialysis can
remove many toxins, but not all wastes that healthy kidneys can do will be
filtered out. In addition to the side effects of dialysis, some cysts may
develop into tumor.
Between 10 to 20% of patients with PKD will develop into
kidney tumors when they are on dialysis for several years. The rate of kidney
cancer in people with PKD is low, but it is higher than the rate in the
generation population.
● Kidney Transplant. Kidney transplant can prolong PKD patient’s life, if it
is conducted successfully. After kidney transplant, some patients may experience
the cysts again due to the PKD gene. Also, in some cases, they can live a normal
life with the native kidneys and its cysts shrinkage.
The major problem is the rejection. When donated kidney is implanted, our
immune system will attack it. Thereby, recipients need to take
immunosuppressants everyday and in many cases, Polycystic Kidney Disease
patients who did kidney transplant die of serious rejection.
Surgery, dialysis and kidney transplant can meet some need of PKD patients,
but all of them contain potential risks. In fact, there are still better natural
treatments to shrink renal cysts and improve kidney functions in this word.
Many treatments, such as Traditional Chinese Medicine, Immunotherapy,
Micro-Chinese Medicine Osmotherapy and immunotherapy, can shrink renal cysts and
improve kidney functions without surgery and avoid dialysis and kidney
transplant.
