Polycystic Kidney Disease refers to the genetic kidney disorder in which
numerous cysts growing in kidneys. If the cysts can not be controlled well,
polycystic kidney disease usually lead to a poor prognosis.
● Common development. Usually, patients with faulty genes of PKD will
experience the rapid progression in his 30s, suffer from serious complications,
such high blood pressure, cyst rupture in his 40s, develop into Polycystic Renal
Failure in his 50s and start dialysis after 50s.
● PKD leads a poorer prognosis in male than female. The prognosis is worse
for male patients than female patients and patients with early onset of the
disease has poor prognosis. Other factors influencing the prognosis that can be
controlled are hypertension, times of pregnancy and the frequency of urinary
tract infection. In the times without dialysis or kidney transplant, patients
with Prognosis Kidney Disease, especially those with Renal Insufficiency can
only survive for 10 years.
● Pregnance. Polycystic Kidney Disease patients are not suggested to take
pregnance, if their condition is poorer. Normally, patients do not experience
the development of PKD, when they are in 20s. This is relatively better to have
a baby for their kidney functions are still not too bad. However, when their
kidney functions drop rapidly or are left less than 50%, patients are suggested
to avoid pregnance at that time. Pregnance can influence the kidney functions a
lot. Too low kidney level or too fast decrease of kidney function can lead to a
miscarriage.
● Heredity. One factor which makes the prognosis of PKD more complex is the
heredity to next generation. In normal condition, children will 50% of chance to
develop into polycystic kidney disease. And on condition that both parents carry
PKD genes, their next generation has 75% possibility to get polycystic kidney
disease.
● Renal Failure. Renal Failure is the most common end for Polycystic Kidney
Disease patients. As renal cysts grow up gradually, the renal cysts will
suppress the nearby kidney tissues and cells, causing kidney damages and
failure. If patients can not take right treatment to improve their kidney
function quickly, they will become the candidate of dialysis very soon.
● Cyst rupture. As long as cyst fluids keep secreting, the renal cysts will
keep enlarging. When cysts grow up, they can get a rupture at any time,
especially when you get a trauma to abdomen. Cyst rupture can lead to infections
among internal organs, which will aggravate the PKD greatly, throwing patients
into emergency.
Polycystic Kidney Disease usually leads to a poor prognosis, as the renal
cysts can not be controlled well by modern therapies, including surgery.
However, Traditional Chinese Medicine is proved to take effects on stop the
progression of PKD and shrink renal cyst naturally by restricting cyst fluids.
If you can control the growth of renal cyst, you are expected to experience a
favorable prognosis.
